EAST LANSING - Brian Lewerke appeared in just four games last season but the Michigan State quarterback showed the ability to make plays with his feet.
Just 15 seconds ticked off the clock last week before Bowling Green realized the same.
On the second play of the game, Lewerke took a shotgun snap and looked down field. Tight end Matt Sokol created separation over the middle cutting toward the sideline but Lewerke felt pressure from his right, tucked the ball and took off. He sidestepped right guard David Beedle, slid past center Brian Allen and went right up the middle of the Bowling Green defense and across midfield for a 22-yard gain.
