CLEVELAND – Western Michigan sophomore center fielder Tanner Mally has been named to the All-MAC Defensive Team, the league office announced on Tuesday. It marks the fourth time in the last five seasons WMU has had a representative among the league's best defenders.
An infielder when he first arrived in Kalamazoo, Mally excelled in his first season as WMU's center fielder, posting a .973 fielding percentage with five outfield assists. He recorded 130 putouts in the outfield, running down numerous balls in the gap to take hits away from the opposition and save runs for the Western Michigan pitching staff.
