Lester invites handful of players to spring practices, looks for additional walk-on talent

Junior linebacker Robert Spillane is gone and the WMU football team has five months before they take on the high and mighty University of Southern California Trojans in Los Angeles for the season opener. Is it enough time for WMU head football coach Tim Lester to create a team that matches the success of last year’s squad? Who knows for sure, but what we do know is that Lester seems desperate for players.

On Feb. 22, the football team held walk-on tryouts where it has been reported that four to six players could have been invited back to participate in spring ball.
