CLEVELAND, Ohio - Senior Jannik Opitz has been named the MAC Singles Player of the Week for men's tennis, as announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Opitz went 3-0 for the Broncos last week in No. 1 singles, with all three of his wins coming in straight sets. On Tuesday, he defeated Yannic Mader of Ferris State (6-4, 6-3), as WMU beat the Bulldogs 7-0. Against Youngstown State on Friday, he secured the victory for his team with a win over 2019 All-Horizon League selection Vasilis Vardakis (7-6, 6-3). On that same day, he finished his perfect week by prevailing over Jakov Suler of Chicago State (7-5, 7-5).
