CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced on Wednesday morning that Western Michigan men's tennis player Jannik Opitz has been named Male Scholar Athlete of the Week running through April 23 – April 30.

Opitz helped the Western Michigan men's team claim its 12th MAC Tournament title this past Saturday as the No. 1-seeded Broncos took down No. 2 Buffalo, 4-2, on their home court. The sophomore served as the match clincher at two singles after he defeated Villhelm Fridell in three sets to earn Tournament MVP.
