Hugh McGing Named CCM/AHCA West First Team All-American

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan hockey senior forward Hugh McGing has been named a CCM Hockey/American Hockey Coaches Association West First Team All-American, announced live on ESPN's SportsCenter late Saturday night.

McGing becomes the first Bronco since defenseman Wayne Gagne (1986-87) to earn First Team honors and the 11th WMU hockey player in program history to earn All-American status. He is also just the fourth forward in program history to earn the honors, joining Mike Bishai (2000-01), Dan Dorion (1983-83, 85-86, and Rob Hodge (1974-75).

The St. Louis Blues signee led the team with 35 points on 13 goals and 22 assists, helping Western Michigan finish in fourth place in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference standings and earning home ice for the NCHC Playoffs, that were canceled due to the COVID-19 virus.
