Hockey clinches home ice during NCHC playoffs with split against Colorado College

With the results, the Broncos go to 19-8-5 on the season, and 12-8-2 in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference. Colorado College moves to 7-21-4 and 3-15-4 in NCHC play. This also guarantees that the Broncos will get home ice advantage in the NCHC playoffs, which start March 10.

On Friday, the penalty box was the Broncos’ friend in the first period, and for all the wrong reasons. The Broncos committed four penalties in the first eight minutes of the game, including two within a minute of each other. Western killed off the first two, but a five-on-three disadvantage would lead to Colorado College’s first goal from senior forward Matt Hansen at 9:03.
