Historic win over Buffalo builds confidence in WMU locker room

KALAMAZOO, MI - The Western Michigan football team played in one Mid-American Conference game that was decided by single digits in 2016.

The Broncos found themselves in four do-or-die situations during the seven overtimes in Saturday's 71-68 win over Buffalo.

While the WMU fan base sweated out the dramatic finish, the players gained confidence as part of the Broncos' first overtime win since defeating Buffalo 34-31 in 2009.

"You gain confidence every time you're in any situation, and it's something I've been harping on my team," head coach Tim Lester said. "We're coming off a season where we had eight wins of three touchdowns or more, so there was a limit to the amount of adversity they had last year.
