KALAMAZOO, Mich. – In her first meet of the season, senior Hanne Christensen from the Western Michigan cross country team was named the Mid-American Conference Runner of the Week on Wednesday, Sept. 13.

Christensen set the bar high for the season after claiming first place at the George Dales Invitational on Friday, Sept. 8 with a winning time and a 6K personal record of 20:44. The senior defeated Eastern Michigan's NCAA Championships qualifers Jordan McDermitt and Alsu Bogdanova by over 37 seconds.
Christensen becomes one of four Bronco cross country runners to win the award in school history including three-time winner Maria McDaniel, Aisha Hodge, and the first Bronco award winner Samantha Tomerlin.
