STOCKBIRDGE, Ga. – The Western Michigan golf team struggled in the opening round of the John Kirk/Panther Intercollegiate, hosted by Georgia State, at Eagle's Landing Country Club on Sunday.
WMU shot a combined 333 (+45) on the day and sit in 16th heading into Monday's second round. Jacksonville leads the field after shooting a 299 (+11), with Murray State just three strokes back at 302.
"Today we failed to meet our goal, plain and simple," said head coach Elise Swartout-Mosher. "With that adversity comes a lot of learning. Taking what we learned from today will only help us in the next two rounds.
