Former WMU goalie Scott Foster called into surprise action for Blackhawks

Blackhawks’ main goaltender Anton Forsberg was injured during warmups before the match, which forced 23-year-old Collin Delia into his first NHL start. But then Delia went down at 5:59 of the third period, leaving Chicago without a goalie.

Having been over 10 years since he played college hockey during his time at Western Michigan, Scott Foster entered the game.

The Sarnia, Ontario native stepped into the Chicago net wearing his WMU mask and turned away all seven shots he faced. Just several hours before Foster was working his day job as an accountant.

“I got the call when I was about a block away (from the United Center),” Foster said in an interview with the Chicago Tribune.
