Former WMU coach P.J. Fleck using past success, failures in Minnesota rebuild

KALAMAZOO, MI – In the land of 10,000 lakes, first-year Minnesota coach P.J. Fleck has found ample opportunity to “row the boat.”

The three-word phrase took Kalamazoo by storm and captivated a national audience, as Western Michigan went 13-0 in the 2016 regular season and became the first Mid-American Conference team to qualify for a New Year’s Six bowl game.

After reaching an agreement with the WMU athletic department, Fleck took the mantra to his next stop atop the Minnesota football program, and he had the Golden Gophers rolling to a 3-0 start in his first year.
