On April 7, Jones announced on his Twitter account that he is committed to transfer to the University of Tulsa in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The post was captioned with “New beginnings,” with a picture of Jones in a Tulsa jersey.
Jones was named to the Mid-American Conference All-Freshman team in 2016-17, when he averaged 9.4 points per game, third on the team, and 3.5 rebounds per game, fifth on the team, playing in all 32 games. Jones improved on those stats in 2017-18, averaging 10.1 points per game, third on the team, and finished second in assists with 67, while playing in all 32 games, starting eight.
