COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Five freshmen from the Western Michigan hockey team have been added to the National Collegiate Hockey Conference Academic All-Conference team, announced by the NCHC on Tuesday.
Cole Gallant (3.25), Jared Kucharek (4.0), Jamie Rome (3.15), Mattias Samuelsson (3.03) and Drew Worrad joined the other 16 Broncos that earned the honors back in February. Kucharek and Worrad were also named NCHC Distinguished Scholars.
To be eligible for the NCHC Academic All-Conference Team, a student-athlete must compile a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average (or better) and have completed a full academic year at their current institution.
