CLEVELAND – Western Michigan senior Erin Dowd has been named the Mid-American Conference Track Athlete of the Week after her performance at the Youngstown State Invitational last Friday.
Dowd started off the indoor season with a dominant performance in the 400-meter dash. The Brighton, Mich., native won the race with a new indoor personal-best time of 54.74 seconds, besting nearly two seconds faster than second place Maiah Yaneekello from Dusquene. Dowd's time was also the best in the MAC so far this season and currently ranks 17th in the nation.
She also combined to help the 4x400-meter relay squad pick up its first win of the season after they ran a time of 3:53.
