Lamont came to WMU from Plantation, Florida. His origins of becoming one of the Broncos’ more reliable assets are somewhat interesting, as Lamont didn’t start out as a basketball player.
“I’d say I started playing organized basketball around eighth grade. Before that, I was a baseball player. I started playing casually and then in eighth grade an [Amateur Athletic Union] coach noticed me. I’ve worked with him until I got here,” Lamont said.
Growing up, Lamont also had a certain player he admired most of all, that may have been before his time, but no less had an impact on his passion for the game.
