Despite now being the eighth-ranked team in the country according to the weekly USCHO.com poll, the Western Michigan hockey team has struggled to stay out of the penalty box throughout the season.

Averaging about 15 penalty minutes (PIMS) per game, the Broncos are the fourth-highest penalized team in the country.

In the sweep over then ranked No. 4 Denver last weekend, the Broncos sat in the box for 61 total minutes, while taking 21 penalties during the series. Head coach Andy Murray addressed the issues with the team’s discipline in a press conference on Monday.
