Defensive receiver: Western Michigan cornerback Darius Phillips always wants the ball

DALLAS -- If it looks like Darius Phillips is playing a different position on defense for Western Michigan, it's likely because he is -- just in his head.

Phillips, the explosive, highlight-reel-appearing cornerback considers himself a "defensive receiver" who is just as happy having the ball in his hands as he keeping receivers from getting it.

He's intercepted the ball four times with 263 return yards and three touchdowns, in addition to his kick and punt return duties where he's scored two times, once on each.

The 5-foot-10, 191-pound Detroit native feels when the ball is up for grabs, it's his.
