Davis Breaks Discus Record up at GVSU

ALLENDALE, Mich. – Western Michigan track and field senior thrower Aniya Davis made program history on the opening day of Grand Valley State Extra Weekend Meet on Friday, setting a new program record in the discus.

The Grand Rapids, Mich., native threw a career-best distance of 180' 2" (54.91m) to win the event. She surpassed the previous record of 176' 10" set back in 2014 by Andrea Hiler. Davis reached the record-breaking mark on her fourth throw. The win was also her fourth of the outdoor season and third in the discus. Taylor Eaton also competed in the event, taking seventh place with a distance of 134' 4".
