Column: JD Martinez traded, Tigers angle toward rebuild

Martinez had hit 16 home runs, even after missing the first six weeks of the season, and was batting .305 by the time he was traded. And therefore, this trade left many fans surprised and upset with the Tigers Organization. But don’t get me wrong, it makes sense for fans to be so upset. Why would you trade one of the best hitters to a team for three prospects who are, with no disrespect, lousy at best? Well, here’s why.
