MUNCIE, Ind. – The Western Michigan track and field team shinnied in the hammer throw on the first day of the Ball State Challenge on Friday.
Junior thrower Brittany Casey turned in a personal-best performance for the third time this outdoor season. Casey won the event with a distance of 179' 11" and pushed herself up to third in the WMU outdoor all-time performance list. Fellow junior Savannah Dugan also had a personal best with a distance of 162' 2", taking fifth overall. Senior Samantha Howard rounded out the event, also with a new career-best distance of 154' 9" and taking eighth.
