KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan football team downed Rhode Island 47-14 at Stafford-Smith Field at Waldo Stadium on Saturday night.

The Bronco defense wreaked havoc on the Rams, recording seven sacks and four turnovers while allowing 251 yards of total offense. URI was held to -5 yards on the ground. Marcel Tyler had a career-high two sacks and forced a fumble, while sophomore safety Micah Davis had his first career interception. Nadame Tucker led the team with 1.5 tackles for loss and a half-sack.

WMU (2-3, 1-0 MAC) put up 372 yards of total offense, with 216 coming on the ground.
