Broncos eliminated from NCHC playoffs after 3-2 loss to Colorado College

The Western Michigan hockey team (21-15-1) were unable to avoid the upset from Colorado College (17-18-4) on Monday night, falling 3-2. Thus, eliminating the Broncos from the National Collegiate Hockey Conference playoffs.

Tensions were high at Lawson with this being the third time in the past three days that these teams have met. The first period saw plenty of jawing, along with steady back and forth action.

That concluded when CC’s Westin Michaud opened the scoring with a power-play goal at 16:47 of the first period following junior Dawson DiPietro’s second penalty of the game.

After a couple of failed power plays, sophomore Austin Rueschhoff was able to pound home a rebound to tie the game at one at 18:49 of the second.
