Broncos Down RedHawks, Secure Third Place in NCHC

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The eighth-ranked Western Michigan hockey team took down rival Miami, 5-3, at Lawson Ice Arena on Friday night.

Five different Broncos scored in the win, with , , , and all lighting the lamp. Hilsendager and Grainger also each had an assist for two-point nights. Junior made 27 saves as WMU outshot MU 45-30 on the night.

The RedHawks took the early lead on a goal by Thomas Daskas at 6:25 in the first period. Daskas fired a shot through traffic and into the net for his fourth goal of the season with senior captain Derek Daschke picking up his first of three assists on the night.
