CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Western Michigan softball team closed out its 12-game trip with a 5-2 victory over Providence College Sunday. Following the win, the Broncos went 7-5 in Florida and improve to 12-11 overall.
Western Michigan got things swinging in the top of the first behind a three-run home run by senior third baseman Kelsea Cichocki. Providence would threaten in the first with two hits but starting pitcher Anissa Sanchez would end the inning off a strikeout with runners in scoring positions.
Redshirt junior Marlee Wilson led the Broncos in the top of the third with a double down the right field line with no outs but the Providence relief pitcher McCune would retire the next three batters including two Bronco strikeouts.
