"This is an example tonight of what elite level college hockey is all about. That was outstanding hockey," Murray said.
The Broncos came out strong in the first period out shooting the Pioneers 11 to five. The team took quality shots but Pioneers’ junior goaltender Tanner Jaillet had an answer for everything the Broncos sent his way. Neither team could put a score on the board and both teams headed to the first intermission tied at zero.
The second period saw the Broncos come out slower, however, and the Pioneers took advantage of that. The Broncos were outshot 14 to five in the second but it was freshman goaltender Ben Blacker who stood tall and stopped all 14 shots he saw.
