The Western Michigan volleyball team opened their home slate on Tuesday by defeating the Chicago State University Cougars in straight sets, 3-0 (25-21, 26-24, 25-16).
With the win, the Broncos move to 2-2 overall on the year, after dropping two of three at the UMKC Tournament in Kansas City last weekend. The loss sends Chicago State to an early 1-3 record.
The Broncos jumped out to a 4-1 lead to start off the first set, but Chicago State scored seven of the next nine points to take an 8-6 lead. A slew of offensive errors by the Cougars allowed the Broncos to go on a 7-2 run to take a 15-13 lead mid-way through the set, which proved to be the difference.
