Bronco Softball Defeats Purdue, Wraps Up Play in Arizona

TEMPE, Ariz.- The Western Michigan softball team concluded play in Arizona at the Kajikawa Classic this weekend. The Broncos split games on Saturday, defeating Purdue 15-7 before falling to Seattle 11-8 in 10 innings in the nightcap. WMU dropped a 21-5 decision to No. 24 ranked Oklahoma State on Sunday. WMU went 2-4 over six games at the Kajikawa, also defeating No. 19 BYU Thursday.

Western Michigan's win over Purdue was its first over a Big Ten opponent since knocking off Michigan State, 4-3, in 2015. The Broncos had five home runs in the game and set season highs with 15 runs, 14 RBIs and 12 hits.
