Western took the first matchup, with a 7-6 thrilling victory that came right down to the wire. Senior forward Sheldon Dries found the back of the net twice and assisted on two more goals, tying his career high for points with four. Sophomore winger Griffen Molino found great success, scoring three times and recording his second hat trick of his career.
After a breakout first period, scoring five goals, the Broncos struggled to get the offense going in the second, scoring no goals and allowing one goal putting Omaha within one. But the Broncos were able to fend off the late rush with two goals in the third period, the game-winning goal being scored Molino with just over two minutes left in the period.
