KALAMAZOO, MI – After returning two kickoffs for 100-yard touchdowns against Western Michigan’s toughest opponents on the 2017 schedule, Darius Phillips has become the national ambassador for Bronco football in the early season.
While he’s certainly worthy of the coast-to-coast praise he has received, the man wearing No. 4 in Kalamazoo represents a fraction of the Broncos’ special teams success, and he’s the first one to admit it.
“I trust our kickoff return team with everything, and they trust me, so I know they’ll block as hard as they can,” Phillips said. “They don’t get the credit that they should get since they don’t have the ball, but they block excellent.
