Gorsuch came to WMU from St. Charles, MO, a suburb of St. Louis. During and after high school he played four seasons of junior hockey in the North American Hockey League for the Michigan Warriors and in the United States Hockey League for the Waterloo Black Hawks and Muskegon Lumberjacks.
“My junior career kind of took me away from home. I moved away when I was 17,” Gorsuch said. “I moved around a few different teams in juniors, one of them being over in Flint, that’s where I got noticed by Coach Murray and his staff when I was playing over there originally for one of his former players, Moe Mantha.
