With just 36 seconds left in the period, Louie Belpedio scored his sixth of the season, with assists by Kiefer Sherwood and Karch Bachman, putting Miami on top 2-1 going into the first intermission.
With around seven minutes gone in the second period, Miami scored on the power play, which chased Ben Blacker from the game, being replaced by Trevor Gorsuch.
