Western Kentucky freshman Xavier Lane says he “didn’t come this far up here for no reason.” The wide receiver is trying to earn playing time right away in his first year as a Hilltopper.
Same goes for Lane’s fellow Alabama native, freshman tight end Kyle Fourtenbary.
Fourtenbary and Lane “talk about it, like, ‘We’ve got to get on the field,’” Lane told the Daily News on Monday after practice.
Fourtenbary, Lane and running back Quinton Baker are three true freshmen who are playing plenty of offensive snaps in their first fall camps at WKU.
Fourtenbary and Lane in particular have seen reps with the first-team offense during full team practice periods.
