Western Kentucky’s 2017 season ended Thursday morning with a 3-2 loss to regional host Georgia State in an elimination game at the NISC in Atlanta.
The Hilltoppers’ Kelsey McGuffin got WKU (31-31) on the board in the bottom of the first with a two-run home run, scoring Jordan Mauch. But the Toppers were shut out over the final six innings.
The Panthers got a run back in the top of the fourth inning, then took the lead with two runs in the sixth. Morgan Brown, Kirsten McMonigle and Mandy Blackwell drove in one run each for GSU.
