Western Kentucky’s Ventavius Sears was named the Conference USA Male Athlete of the Week for track and field Tuesday.
Sears helped WKU to a runner-up finish at the Gene Edmonds Invitational last weekend.
He set a new personal record in the 60-meter dash as he finished first in the preliminary round with a time of 6.78 seconds. His time is currently 25th-best in the NCAA.
Sears also ran the first leg for a Hilltopper relay team that claimed the top spot in the 4x400-meter event with a time of 3:14.87. WKU trails only Penn State and Texas A&M in the nation with that time.
