Western Kentucky’s Ventavius Sears and Carrol Hardy were named Conference USA’s Male Field and Female Track Athletes of the Week on Tuesday after the duo recorded outstanding performances at the Vanderbilt Invitational this past weekend.
Tuesday’s recognition marks Sears’ second conference honor of the year as he previously took home the Male Track Athlete of the Week on Jan. 12. The rising junior set a new WKU program record after capturing the triple jump event with an effort of 16.07 meters (52 feet, 8 inches). The jump currently ranks seventh in the NCAA standings. The Columbus, Ga., native also added a pair of top-3 finishes on the day after finishing in second place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.
