Johnson rejoined the Hilltopper men’s basketball program Sunday, WKU announced. The senior forward had spent the offseason working as a tight end for coach Mike Sanford’s football program.
Johnson participated in WKU basketball practice Sunday, one day before the team leaves Monday for a preseason trip to Costa Rica. Coach Rick Stansbury’s basketball squad will play games Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in the Central American nation.
Johnson joined the football program March 28, less than three weeks after WKU’s 2016-17 men’s basketball season ended with a Conference USA Tournament loss to UTSA.
Johnson, 6-foot-7 and 235 pounds, joined Sanford’s squad as a tight end and began participating in spring practice.
