Western Kentucky faced a new challenge Wednesday night: Dealing with prosperity.
The Hilltoppers haven’t had many big leads this season, but they found themselves up 22 points with 14:37 left against visiting Austin Peay. WKU didn’t exactly put the Governors away from that point forward, allowing them to crawl all the way to within three points.
The victory provided a valuable teaching point for WKU’s players, especially its younger ones, forward Ben Lawson said.
The Hilltoppers (6-7) learned why it’s important to not take their foot off the gas pedal when they have a team down.
