The Lady Toppers (1-1) began with an 8-4 win over Appalachian State before falling to fourth-ranked host Auburn 19-1 in five innings in the nightcap.
Sophomores Carleigh Chaumont and Hannah Parker teamed up to lead WKU to its opening victory.
Parker (1-0) had a career-best six strikeouts and drove in a career-high three runs at the plate. Chaumont went 2-for-4 with an RBI and her first career triple.
The Lady Tops finished with 10 hits. Sophomore Jordan Mauch and junior Kathryn Downing each went 2-for-3, while freshman Bryce Holmgren also added a pair of hits to go along with two RBIs.
