Whitney Creech needed a whopping 63 points Tuesday night to break the ultimate record in Kentucky high school basketball.
In typical Creech fashion, the Western Kentucky signee went above and beyond.
Creech, a 5-foot-9 senior guard at Jenkins High School, scored 71 points and led her Lady Cavaliers to a 90-87 overtime win at Paintsville. She broke the state’s all-time career scoring record on an overtime jump shot and now has 4,957 points in her varsity career.
The state’s previous record was 4,948, set by Highlands’ Jaime Walz Richey – who went on to play at WKU, like Creech will do this fall.
