WKU safety Ward will return for fifth year

The senior safety has been out with a knee injury suffered Sept. 10 in a loss at No. 1 Alabama. Ward had a chance to begin his post-football career, but said another chance to play with his teammates made the difference in him wanting to come back in 2017 for a redshirt senior season.

Ward spoke Tuesday at a news conference in E.A. Diddle Arena one day after coach Jeff Brohm’s departure to Purdue, two days after WKU accepted a bid to the Boca Raton Bowl and three days after the Hilltoppers won their second straight Conference USA championship.
