WKU officially announces Stansbury as new men's basketball coach

It wasn't exactly a well-kept secret, but Rick Stansbury is officially taking the reins at Western Kentucky.

The school announced Monday morning that Stansbury, who led Mississippi State for 14 seasons, will be its 15th men's basketball coach.

He's scheduled to be officially introduced at a news conference at 1 p.m. Monday in the Harbaugh Club at Houchens-Smith Stadium. The event is open to the public.

Stansbury, 56, has been on Texas A&M's staff since 2014 and was elevated to associate head coach last year. The Aggies fell 77-63 to Oklahoma on Thursday in the NCAA Tournament's Sweet 16.
