The Old Dominion senior guard poured in a Conference USA Tournament-record 42 points in Friday's semifinal, sending the eighth-seeded Hilltoppers (18-16) home with an 89-77 defeat at Legacy Arena.
"Some of those shots, I had my hand right in his face or two hands in his face," WKU graduate senior guard Aaron Cosby said. "I tip off my hat to him for making those shots."
Even with Freeman's career night, it took everything the fifth-seeded Monarchs (22-12) had to get past the stubborn Tops.
Freeman scored 34 points after halftime on 11 of 15 shooting, but WKU was still down just one at 68-67 with under four minutes to play.
