Steve Roberts | WKU AthleticsWKU (21-7) took on Saint Mary’s (14-10) in Comerica Center Wednesday evening to open the first round of the National Invitational Tournament. The Hilltoppers escaped with a 69-67 win after two clutch free throws from senior Taveion Hollingsworth.
Hollingsworth led with 21 points on 7-for-15 shooting with three rebounds. Junior big man Charles Bassey ended with 19 points and 11 rebounds, making it his 17th double-double of the season, which is tied for second in the nation.
