Todd Stewart says there’s nothing he can say to “spin” Western Kentucky’s 6-7 record in 2017 as a positive.
But the Hilltopper athletic director reiterated Friday his support for the man who just spent his first season in charge of the program.
“I definitely believe strongly in Mike (Sanford) and am extremely confident that we’ll win conference championships, we’ll win bowl games, we’ll have great seasons under his leadership,” Stewart said.
Stewart spoke Friday at E.A. Diddle Arena, six days after WKU finished its 2017 campaign in disappointing fashion. The Toppers were thoroughly outplayed Saturday in a 27-17 Cure Bowl loss to Georgia State.
