Wales, veteran O-line combine for strong WKU rushing attack

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Big passing plays have been the hallmark of Western Kentucky’s offense in recent years.

The Hilltoppers go into Tuesday’s Boca Raton Bowl having also enjoyed plenty of success from their rushing attack in 2016.

WKU (10-3) averages 5.35 yards per carry, which ranks No. 26 nationally out of 128 FBS teams. The Toppers’ 180.54 rushing yards rank down at No. 61 in the nation, but their 31 rushing touchdowns are No. 17.

Running back Anthony “Ace” Wales has run for 24 touchdowns behind a veteran offensive line that scouting service Pro Football Focus ranked all year among the 10 best in the nation.
