CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Redshirt sophomore Sarah Gorham and senior Olivia Fitzgerald found the back of the net in the first 10 minutes of either half on Sunday evening, sending WKU to a 2-0 victory at Xavier in the team's preseason exhibition finale.
The Lady Toppers close the preseason with a 1-1 record, defeating the Musketeers after falling 1-0 on a 90th minute strike against Northern Kentucky at the WKU Soccer Complex on Friday evening.
Both of WKU's goals were set up by well-placed corner kicks into the box. Just over eight minutes into the match, sophomore Nicole Roseland served up a corner that found the head of Fitzgerald, who managed to beat Musketeer goalkeeper Rachel Piccus for the early Lady Topper advantage.
