Western Kentucky’s offense changed up the personnel looking for any receiver to spark explosive production.
Kylen Towner may have appeared as an unlikely option for that role given his two receptions all season leading into Saturday’s game against Charlotte, but coach Mike Sanford dove into the statistics and found one of the most explosive players wasn’t touching the ball enough.
In WKU’s 45-14 Homecoming win over Charlotte, Towner was the go-to target for quarterback Mike White. The redshirt senior known mostly for his breakaway speed in the return game hauled in a career-high six receptions for a game-best 111 yards and a 59-yard touchdown pass.
