Western Kentucky redshirt junior Billy Tom Sargent fired a 3-under 68 on Saturday – the best round of the day by two strokes – to vault up the leaderboard into a tie for seventh after the second round of Indiana's Wolf Run Intercollegiate in Zionsville, Ind.
Sargent improved by nine strokes over Friday's opening-round 77, offsetting two double-bogeys with seven birdies in Saturday's second round. He's tied for second with nine birdies overall in the tournament.
Sargent was one of just two players to break par Saturday at the par-71, 7,155-yard Wolf Run Golf Club. That effort shot him up the leaderboard after finishing day one in a tie for 44th, and he's just five strokes out of the lead entering the final 18 holes.
