Tashia Brown taking on starring role for WKU

Last season, Tashia Brown was a freshman contributing to a Conference USA-winning Western Kentucky team.

This year, the sophomore is one of the stars of a WKU squad trying to repeat that title.

Brown has averaged 14.7 points per game for the Lady Toppers, who are 5-2 and host Eastern Kentucky at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. That scoring average is second on the team only to Kendall Noble’s 15.9 ppg.

The 6-foot-1 forward is also pulling down 4.4 rebounds per game and has tallied seven blocks, six steals and 21 assists against 22 turnovers.

“I had high expectations for myself and I feel like I’m where I should be,” Brown told the Daily News on Tuesday.
